Lines and Colors and Shapes, Oh My!

To our Kindergarten students,  every experience is an exciting adventure.
I introduced them to the artist, Piet Mondrian, by showing this short animated video.  Children enjoyed seeing how, at first, Piet painted trees, then became more interested in shapes that formed between branches, and finally focused on shapes alone. Students concentrated on designing a collage of small, medium and large shapes.

In the next art class, they uses their bodies to form standing-tall(vertical) lines and laying-down(horizontal) lines.  Special bonus: while laying on the floor we discovered black lines and white shapes in the ceiling!! Who knew?  Finally, students explored stamp printing cardboard form lines over their primary colored shapes. Awesome!
