Cinco De Mayo Maracas

January through March usually finds plenty of enthusiastic students forming paper mache and sculpture art in the SJS studio.  HOWEVER, not this year. Winter weather schedules altered the flow. Then all classes created  the Birthday Mural through April.

Not to worry. Fifth graders squeezed in a short ( two week) paper mache maraca session! Kids got to feel the mushy paste and cover round sport juice bottles filled with beans.  To speed the process, I spray painted the maracas during the week and today they painted festive patterns and designs.
What cross curricular joy, as they currently study Mexico and prepare to celebrate Cinco De Mayo tomorrow.
